This is a picture of my GGgranduncle Charles Eggleston who served with the 18th MS Infantry then transferred to the Confederate Signal Corps under his first cousin Capt. Richard Eggleston Wilbourne in Jackson's Corps. He along with his brother was captured at Gettysburg, imprisoned at a NY prison camp, escaped with outside help and allegedly posed in borrowed clothes in a small town in NY north of Poughkeepsie. I would like some comments on his civilian clothing.
He later rejoined confederate forces and died of yellow fever while serving as a signal corps officer aboard a blockade runner in the Bahamas in 1864.
