Re: Confederate prisoners in Chicago, decent quality
Iv'e always wondered which major army these soldiers came from (ANV or AOT) and about what year. Late 62' early 63 maybe?
Great photo!

Re: Confederate prisoners in Chicago, decent quality
These fellas may be (if this was taken in Chicago) a group of prisoner from the Rock Island Arsenal. I know CS soldiers who swore allegiance to the North were sent to Chicago, and some became part of the US Navy. I know this because that is what a member of the 33rd Ala did after he was captured at Mission Ridge with many others and was sent to RI Prison. That being said, these are probably western boys in late 63 or early 64 shortly after the prison was opened.V/R

Here is one of two earlier discussions. http://www.authentic-campaigner.com/...ers-in-Chicago
I seem to remember that the other (that I can't find) digs deeper into equipment and clothing.B. G. Beall (Long Gone)
