    Both cooks seem to be using the same instrument, but what is it? The fellow in the rear in shirtsleeves looks like he is holding a 3 prong fork with very wide prongs. Both are a shiny metal vs the blackened skillets. Doesn't look like the blacksmith made spatula commonly seen among reenactors.

      Cool picture! The ghost image is definitely the guy inside the tent. I don't know if he saw the picture being taken and went outside, or came outside while it was being taken.

        Considering that they often cleaned their eating utensils by sticking them in the ground a few times, I doubt it was much of an issue!
