  • 42nd Ohio Infantry, Plaquemine Louisiana, 1864



    If this photo was taken at Plaquemine in 1864 then it dates to before March 21st, when the regiment was ordered from that place, and where it had been since November 1863. Looks like all the men have forage caps on, a mix of sack coats and a few frocks, some men have their trousers tucked into their boots.

    I like how they have extended their left legs, probably in an attempt to make it appear that they are marching.

      Yeah, and they appear a bit sloppy at it too. Great image!

      The officer in the center of the photo, looks like Paul McKee.

        It is a very nice picture!! I'm actually related to a soldier in the 42nd Ohio on my Mom's side and I believe he may have been in this picture
