I am looking for an image that I saw on the forum several years ago. I've have searched every possible combination of terms I can think of, but I have had no success in locating the photo. It was a photo of a company of federals. They were in two ranks, but I cannot recall if they were at order arms or parade rest. There was considerable discussion of the photo. Some of the discussion points involved the percentage of breastplates and the varying length of the sack coats. All (or most) of the men were wearing forage caps. I think most of the NCOs were wearing frock coats and the privates were wearing fatigue blouses. If any of that sparks your memory, and you can help me locate the image, I'd be most appreciative.

Re: Searching for Image
Carlton: This may not be it but if you want some serious close up studies of Federals it's hard to beat the 93rd New York grouping in the LOC: http://www.authentic-campaigner.com/...highlight=93rd
I addition to these you can go to the LOC site and download tiff versions of photos of every company. They are priceless. Hope this helps.Bob Williams

1 photograph : half-plate tintype, hand-colored ; 12.2 x 15.2 cm (case) | Photograph shows a group of identified Union soldiers in frock coats, four-button blouses, and a shell jacket; most with M1855-61 or Enfield rifle muskets. From right to left: Captain David Crist, 1st Sergt. Thomas Bradley, Corp. William McVey, E. Dexter Van keuren, Corp. Abram Rapelje, Gouveneer Legg, Sgt. Alexander Armstrong, Grandison Judson, John Buckley (musician), Arthur Haigh (musician) Charles Whitehead (musician), Lieutenant John R. Hays. (Source: Ryan McIntyre, 2014. He has a copy of this photo which came from a CDV in the personal effects of Capt. James Benedict, of Co. D 124th. An accompanying note from Lt. John R. Hays, standing far left, identifies nearly everyone.) The third soldier from the right has a pioneer emblem above corporal's chevrons.
This is the recently identified image of Co.H 124th NYSV, identified by forum member, Ryan McIntyre. Hope this helps tooYour Humble Servant,

Re: Searching for Image
We're getting warmer, but we're still not there. The arrangement of men is correct in this pic, but in the one I'm looking for, the men were wearing cartridge box slings. It is very similar to the one Sean just linked to. Thanks, guys, for helping out!Carlton Mansfield

Re: Searching for Image
Hallo!
"The pic in questions had men, all standing, in two ranks, with arms and accoutrements. And cartridge box belts.
I will go through several thousand on the chance of finding it. "Company" formations are fairly common.
Narrow the search down may be: I am thinking, half remembering, that it was unusual as we discussed it.. because the men were NOT assembled according to height?
