Hillbilly Patch

I thought I would post this image of a poorly performed jacket repair. The patch seems to have been simply placed over the suspected hole/tear rather than between the outer fabric and the lining. I thought it interesting no attempt was made to conceal the repair- it could not be more obvious even if "This is a Patch" was printed on the material.

I like his shirt, too.

Unfortunately no identification came with the image.

Sorry I didn't mention that- it's from my personal collection. I got it along with a ribbon from the 1886 Ex-Confederates Association of Missouri reunion in Mexico, MO, but again, no name associated with them.

Interesting shirt, is the pattern in the material or is it embroidered on top?

I cannot tell by viewing it under magnification (just not enough detail captured in the emulsion) if its woven or printed. If I only had the shirt, too, we could answer that one!
