  • "Clothing gleanings" from the Nashville CW Show 12/09

    Folks,

Here’s are a few photos I took of civilian clothing and CS uniforms at the Nashville CW Show Dec. 2009. I am sorry the photography is so bad but the lighting there is very poor for shooting photos and I could only “doctor-em-up” so much with the computer. I did not get any documentation on the artifacts- sorry but they are interesting just the same.

    1. Pair of 1830'-40's trousers from the Tennessee Ag Museum. Rather “tall”gent I would venture.

    2-3. Confederate trousers

    4. Civilian summer linen vest.

    5-6. No info

I will also post some of these to my web site:

The last two frock coats in your first set of photos were also on display at the Ohio Civil War Show in Mansfield earlier this year. I was able to take a close look at the artillery officer's coat; it's a thing of beauty if nasty looking home-made coats are your thing. The broadcloth uniform coat with the Louisiana buttons originally included a matching vest...I remember seeing them on eBay a while back.

The haversack with the red trim and suspender buckle on the strap was on display at the Liberty on the Border exhibit at the Cincinnati Museum Center over six or seven years ago.

Thank you for sharing these photos! Those CS trousers are fantastic!
