I have the opportunity to view and possibly purchase an original London Armoury Co. Enfield Pattern 1853 Musket. What is the approx. value range of this rifle-musket? I've seen some that have sold on the internet (such as on AntiqueArms), but no price is listed. Thanks so much for any help given.

Re: Original London Armoury Co. Enfield Pattern 1853 Musket Question
Tristan,
Overall condition of the artifact in question is probably the greatest signal determining factor regarding price.
Second will be if the price is something you feel you can afford.
I am sorry to say that the photos you shared with us are not sufficient enough in detail to offer you much help.
That is just my opinion.

Nice, honest looking weapon. Probably did service with a British Volunteer unit. Range $1500 to $2000.Craig L Barry

Re: Original London Armoury Co. Enfield Pattern 1853 Musket Question
A picture of the ramrod end of the musket, the threaded end of the ramrod, all the barrel bands, the side opposite of the lock and the lock side of the butt stock would be nice. I love to look at pictures.
The positive features I saw in the pictures is that the sight is still on and it has the cone protector. Don't be scared away by all that dirt.
Heed what Craig said. Condition looks to good to be used in our CW. Most of the LA were sold back to Europe after the war.
PS -No matter what the price was for the LA on Antique Arms web site there is no way to tell what it actually sold for. It has been on the site for a long while and just sold which leads me to think it was over priced or something else. I can't remember what the price was but I thought when it first went on that it was pricey.Last edited by Jimmayo; 02-21-2010, 08:09 PM.Jim Mayo
