I've been trying to find information on this style of canteen, but have had some mixed results. SUM sells a screw top canteen and they claim that "These can be seen in nearly every theater of war, both north and south. There are also countless surviving originals as well as a number of original images showing similar canteens." I have also seen other original canteens of the exact same style being sold as civil war era. however I have also read from other people that these are post war canteens? Can someone please give me some clarity on this if possible? I mainly want to know if this is something accurate for a generic ANV impression.
