I am soliciting your help in a search for the brown felt slouch hat of Lt/Cpt. Asa Bartlett, who served in the 12th New Hampshire and the Signal Corps.
Jim Stamatelos owned the Bartlett hat, along with Bartlett’s line officer’s frock coat, royal blue vest, small Signal Corps insignia from the front of the hat, tin cups, notebook, pocket book, and other ephemera. Jim sold the clothing, tin wear and other items in 1979, while retaining the hat. Years later, the hat surfaced in the collection of John Henry Kurtz.
The Bartlett hat’s most recent public sighting was at the John Henry Kurtz collection auction of Nov. 21, 2008, where it sold for $10,157 (see attached).
A good friend owns the Bartlett uniform items and other pieces and would like to arrange a reunion of the slouch hat. If you would kindly inform me if you happen to recall to whom the Bartlett hat sold in the 2008 auction, or have seen the Bartlett hat in the last 15 years, my friend and I would be grateful for the information.
Feel free to email or call me (502-299-1863)
Thanks!
Mike Cunningham
