  • 59th Illinois Volunteer Infantry at Pea Ridge

In preparation of a Civil War Roundtable talk that I will give at the end of this month in Highland, Illinois, on the battle of Pea Ridge, I have expanded my research to include the role of the 59th Illinois Volunteer Infantry at the Battle of Pea Ridge. The reason why I'm focusing on the 59th Illinois is because this is the only regiment at the Battle of Pea Ridge to have soldiers from the same county and area as where I'm giving my lecture.

I was at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, Illinois doing research on the 59th, and I made photos of several pages of some primary published works on the 59th Illinois Infantry and their roll during the Battle of Pea Ridge. These published works are non-circulating publications and are not available on-line (such as with Google Books, etc.), so far as I can see. Therefore, for those who have an interest in Trans-Mississippi battles and the Battle of Pea Ridge - and for those who are unable to travel to Springfield, IL to visit the Lincoln Presidential Library - I'm providing a link to my photo webpage where you can read pages from these regimental histories of the 59th Illinois Infantry.

      Mark,

I opted to not look at that book at the Lincoln Library, because I already have it on inter-library loan at my local library.

      Thanks.
