  • Rolling the blanket

    All,
I expect this has been addressed previously, but is/was there a specific way to roll the blanket for the infantryman?

    Thanks :)

    Re: Rolling the blanket

Dave, just in a mule collar fashion. What may work for one person will not work for another.Just experiment some and you'll find your own way to roll it.
I roll mine with all the items spread out as thing as possible. If it's a round item, then I just put it lenght wise so it rolls better. Then I roll it,twist it like a bread stick, and buckle the ends together.I put my ground cloth on the back with twine, and put my cup on the buckle which holds it close.
    Hope this helps.

      Re: Rolling the blanket

Lay the blanket down and place your groundcloth on top. Put your extra stuff (minimal, such as an extra pair of socks and a housewife) spread out in the middle of one side and roll it up as tight as you can. I step on one end, pick up the other, give it a slight twist, put the ends together, and strap it together with a blanket strap. Strap it kinda high so it rides well and doesn't move about. But please, if you have room for your cup in your haversack, keep it there. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I hate having those damn things clanging all over when you're fronting or in line and moving. How many times have you heard "FRONT", then CLANGGLINGCLANGCLANGDING!!!!!? Drives me nuts. :cry_smile Plus, you can get to your cup easier when at rest if it's in your 'sack without having to unbuckle your roll.

Also, remember to use the search tool. There's a plethora of information on this topic.
