  • Rhode Island Blouse

    Hello,

I tried the search function and had no luck. Does anyone currently make a decent RI blouse? If not, is a pattern available? Are they made from sack coat flannel? Any help would be great.

    Benjamin,

The RI blouse I saw at Don Troiani's was made from fabric similar to blouse flannel. I didn't look at it long enough to take specific measurements but the garment appeared to be a simple overshirt. If you're looking for a repro Rhode Island blouse, contact me via email and I might be able to help you out.

Don Smith from Trans Miss made one for one of our guys. In fact, I beleive he made the trousers also for him.

Don Smith of TMD has made the patterns to make the entire uniform. He can make the blouse, trowsers, kepi, and havelock.

          Re: Rhode Island Blouse

Just out of curiosity, is there any differences in construction between the R.I blouse and the Ky. blouse that Maj. Gen. Simon Bolivar Buckner wore?

            Re: Rhode Island Blouse

From my understanding and if I am wrong, anyone please correct me, I thought that the R.I. blouse was more of an 'overshirt' type garment, while the Bukner blouse was in fact a coat. Here are some details about Simon Bolivar Buckner's blouse from the MOC uniform book:
            Pleated fatigue coat
            -single breasted
            -6 button front
-brownish gray wool and cotton cloth
            -no facings or piping
-brown cotton osnaburg lining in body
            -white cotton sheeting in sleeves

            Cheers,

Thanks Moose for the info. I was just curious if there was a common "ancestor" to both garments...
