As an aside, the next month she wrote to Willie (her eldest son) about a piece of jean and some pants, and then expressed concern about woolen cloth. Don't know what cloth she had made.

"I have had some very nice & good looking cloth made for Father & [Archie] & woolen cloth is getting so scarce & high that I think it would be wise for you when the weather grows warm to have some cotton made up & put away your woolen for another winter."
