Cloth for CS overcoats

Hi,

Would the hooded CS overcoats that were issued to the troops been made from straight wool versus jean cloth? Seems like the versions that Mr. Childs and Mr. Dailey sell are made fomr the same color jean cloth and lined with the same cloth. I realize that they are reporducing a specific coat, but could other cloth be used following the same pattern?
