  • cotton weave blankets?

    how often would a soldier carry a cotton weave blanket? Would one side use them more than another? and are they under-represented in the hobby? please move if wrong area.

    Zach,

    You need to research the units you are portraying when you decide what equipment is correct for them.

    I'm a dirty Yankee and I will tell you that cotton was not used widely in the Union Army for blankets, although there are instances of states buying cotton blankets during the War.

    On the Confederate side, I recommend Tom Arliskas' "Cadet Grey and Butternut Brown" as a starting point for understanding of Confederate Supply, After that you need to delve into the records to determine what any unit was issued or recieved.
