  • Enfield Rifle Question

    Greetings

I have been sitting here for hours searching threads for the proper way to treat the wood of the rifle and make it correct with no resuts. My enfield has a horrid lacquered mirror like finish, how would one remove this finish.

    Re: Enfield Rifle Question

    Tim,

I just finished refinishing an Armi Sport Enfield, which I picked up second hand. The original owner told me it was about 15 years old. The original finish was badly chipped polyurethane. I sanded all of the original finish off reshaping the stock in the process. Because the grain of the stock was overly figured I stained the light areas to match the darker parts and then coated it with three coats of boiled linseed oil. For what I have in the gun, I think it turned out pretty nice. I used a combination of stains including English Walnut and Dark Walnut, to get the color I was after. I hope this helps, good luck.

    Best regards,
    Craig Wolfe
