  • Marl Jean??

Ok, I've got the samples from Pat Kline and I'm curious about this weird looking jean called "marl." Where did this come from? Are there any extant examples of the stuff in any original military or civilian garments?

It really has been driving me nuts lately. :confused_

Haven't seen the fabric in question. Pat lists a wool "marl cloth" on his website which is suggested for civilian trousers.

In the apparel industry, marl refers to a "multi colored yarn formed by twisting together two or more yarns to form a single yarn. They may be different in color, texture or both."

I would suggest contacting Pat and asking him. In my experience he has been very agreeable to talking about his products.

Thanks a lot! I didn't know what "marl" meant and now I do. I have no doubt Pat knows what he's doing, and I never discounted the authenticity of the cloth in question, but I was just curious to know what the name meant.

Now that the mystery is solved a pair of pants from that cloth is sounding pretty nice.
