As stated countless times before on this forum, one should stick within the realm of the approved vendors list located on this site. Don't get me wrong, there are vendors out there that make great items, that might not be listed here, but I will say that if you purchase an item from one of the approved vendors here, you will not be disappointed.

Why not just talk to the vendor first hand. Ask questions about patterns, materials and construction methods. If you buying an item through the mail, ask for an inspection period. Check these things against what you know to be proper for the period and draw your own conclusions.
