  • Cartridge box plate leather wedges

Is there anyone who makes a reproduction of the leather wedges used to secure the cartridge box plate to the box itself. I used the search, but had no hits. Thanks.

    Layton,

Tim Sheads t/a S&S of Gettysburg had some in stock about two weeks ago in the glass case on the left side of the shop. Didn't notice a price, or if they were sold apart from the plates. The phone numbers used to be 717-338- 1990, or 717-677-7580 after 5 pm to schedule an appointment during the week. Store Hours: Saturday 10 - 6, Sunday 10 - 4 (This contact info could be substantially out of date.) He sometimes mails orders for out of area customers, too.

Sometimes bundles of these long triangular leather wedges show up at CW relic shows for a reasonable price.

Have custom-sewn, authentic reproduction, historically accurate clothing created for Civil War reenactments.

I don't believe they are listed on the site. But, for the contact information, this might be of service.

Not too long ago W.K. Osman had originals at a Civil War show in the Chicago area. They were Bannerman surplus, strips rather tan wedges, and actually pliable and usable. As I recall, inexpensive as well. Give WK a call at 612-823-4009.
