    Re: Confederate haversack question

I have read in an account by a confederate artillery man that the two items that were taken from Yankee prisoners were their metal canteens and haversacks. He stated that only rookies were still carrying there CS issued canteens and haversacks.

Excuse my lack of patience, "Oh nevermind" means this...the same guy using the same screen name asked this identical question over on the other forum, which is exactly there w/ beginners in mind, and got a lengthy, sensible and detailed answer. So what is the point of the identical question posted over here? Opinion shopping? 18 months ago, Charles Heath posted:

Uncanny isn't it? The irony kind of slaps you in the face.

        Re: Confederate haversack question

        Hallo!

Sometimes in their desire to save Newcomers hundreds or thousands of dollars on the "wrong" kit, well-meaning lads who have wasted hundreds and thousands of dollars can seem harsh if not snarky.

        And...

        "Uncanny isn't it."

Nope. In the Great Cycle of Life, history repeats itself.

It's deja vu, all over again, and again, and...

        :) :)

It may be interesting, to see the same question posted on a number of different boards representing different segments of the Hobby as if the same answers were somehow being (or not being) sought.

        :)

A dichotomy that doesn't really exist. Even for 'veteran' hardcores, once they read instructions or new material on this or that particular item and change their gear or behavior accordingly, they are beginners themselves.
