Reenacting with a Spencer Rifle??

Is there anybody that uses a Spencer rifle for reenacting and if so what are you using for blanks. Just wanting to check to see what others are using so as not to "reinvent the wheel" so to speak concerning blanks. I have a pretty good idea of what I am going to use. Thanks for any information.

When portraying the 7th OICVSS, that were Spencer Rifle armed, I use the hard plastic "blanks."

I don't know how expensive the plastic blanks are but I am working on blanks for my Spencer rifle using the 8mm Lebel brass cut down, I used this brass when I had my original Spencers and they work well. I plan on picking up the brass to reuse. I should be able to get at least 3 to 4 reloads per brass since it is not crimped so the cost per blank should be around 20-25 cents each. I used 30 grains of BP when I used to load them. What load is used in the plastic blanks? Thanks for any information.

Hallo!

You might want to say which calibre Spencer you are talking about as they come in what... .45 Schofield, .44 S & W Russian, .50, and .56?

Lads use recycled .410 shotgun shells, but I doubt in a .56 or .50. ;) :)

It is a .56-50 Taylor which is very close to the Civil War Spencers of .56-56.

Well we are up to 4 Spencer rifles in .56-50 in our group with the possibility of a couple of more. Brass reloadable blanks will make it fairly cost effective too. Reenacting the 123rd Illinois could be very interesting.
