Re: Richmond Carbine Markings
MikeM.
Top left flat of the breech will have the V / P / Eagle head.
Same markings as on US Armory at Harpers Ferry M-1855.
Top flat of the breech "may" have a date stamp. More often will not have this date stamp.
Hope this is what you are looking for,

Re: Richmond Carbine Markings
H & V are the makers mark of Brian Haack and Gary Vikar, both from Michigan, who build custom rifles and carbines for shooting competition. They build great guns. Many of the reproduction lock plates used by other customs makers, and defarbers, come from Haack and Vikar also, including S&S and James River.
The mark is an obvious one. The N-SSA requires the reproductions to be marked in a fashion that they can be easily identified by an inspector in the event a team gets drawn from a spot inspection.~ Chris Hubbard
