  • Canteen repair

I have a friend who has a Richmondville Tin ware Federal Smooth Sided Canteen that has verticle cracks along the pewter spout.

Having spent $60 on this canteen some years ago, we were wondering if there is a way to repair the cracks, or get the spout replaced, and who could do the work, or if it's even cost effective to do this repair?

You should be able to replace the spout. Try contacting a few tin smiths to see what they'd charge you for the job.

      Kevin,

You may find the tinsmith you need on the Tin Tinker's Forum: http://www.tintinkers.org/ . Post how the repair project turns out.

Axel continues to impress. I ordered a canteen from him and he suprised me with a little Masonic makers mark on the finished product. Thank you Brother Mason.
