  • My first defarb attempt: Presenting - The Cedar Canteen Plug!

In the above picture you can see the cork that came with the canteen - it had a chunk missing out of it. So I took a new cork and chucked it up in my drill press and, using a file, made a new cork.

Then I went out back and grabbed a chunk of fresh cedar (we lost 3 cedars in the tornadoes) and used my band saw to cut me down a small chunk, then I whittled it down to roughly cylindrical in shape, tapped a screw into it, chucked it up in the drill press, and then filed it down to a cone.

Then I whittled on it some more to make it look like it was whittled entirely. :)

    What do you think?

    Guys,

In a PM exchange with Steve he informed me that he does not know any reenactors in his area. While the AC is not a beginners forum it would not hurt if someone in the Huntsville, AL area would contact him and hopefully give him some pointers. Thanks
