I have been dealing with this problem as well, I tried the homespun patterns sack coat and it was terrible. It have a lot of sizing issues, and other problems. I tried fixing the pattern but ended up giving up and had Jim Ruley draft me a pattern. $30 for a custom pattern isn't bad, I know I spent atleast that much on the Homespun Pattern, muslin, and wasted time.
