Does anyone have a source for the dark blue linen thread used in a mounted services jacket?
Jacket for light artillery or cavalry: 1 1/4 yards of 6-4 dark blue cloth; 1 yard of 7/8 lining; 1 yard of 4-4 unbleached muslin; 3/4 of a yard of 24 inch canvas; 1 sheet of black cotton wadding; I inch of brown holland; 20 vest buttons; 1 hook and eye, black; 6 1/4 yards of 3/8 worsted lace; 7 skeins of dark blue linen thread, No. 40. For musicians, add 5 yards of lace, and 2 skeins of thread.

    Thanks in advance!

Done and done. Thank you sir. Although $8.00 to ship a spool of thread seems a bit high...thats the price of getting what wants nigh on immediately!
        Thanks again!

          booth and draper....

          excellent service

8.00 will not be the cost to ship thread from booth and draper....she will adjust it and charge the necessary amount.

William, their goods are first rate in my very humble opinion and my limited experience with them. I've heard nothing but good things about them from my 18th c. friends.

They have very fast service too! I buy my linen and thread for my british haversacks that I make from them.

                    Re: Linen thread

Speaking of, this one had me stumped, had to look it up.

                    Holland \Hol"land\, n.
A kind of linen first manufactured in Holland; a linen fabric
used for window shades, children's garments, etc.; as, brown
                    or unbleached hollands.
What part of the jacket was it used in?

                      Re: Linen thread

I'll give my two thumbs up to Wm. Booth, Draper as well! Always great service and fast delivery. Always have changed shipping. I've bought several different weights of linen from them and well as linen thread, 35/2, for hand-sewing 18th century items.

I'm not sure your intentions in execution (IE by hand or machine), however I do know linen thread is not friendly with modern sewing machines.

PS - another source is Burnley and Trowbridge.

                      Best,
