What would be a good early war CSA jacket? I am portraying a lower middle class to poor farm or general labor(carpenter) young man. This would be for militia and 1861 events in Florida and Georgia. Thanks

Thanks Mark-- I never knew that the fact checks on common questions were right there. We are teachers and every day somewhere someone decides to join the Civil War hobby and every day we have to explain what it takes to participate, but this is good!

A good civilian sack coat would be versatile. For militia or more military appearance, a frock coat non-descript in nature would work well.

We know that in 1861 troops were enlisting and wearing what they had until uniforms could be procured. A pre-war militia soldier would likely already have a military uniform.
