  • Tait trim fabric

I am interested in producing a Peter Tait style jacket, but am having trouble locating the appropriate fabric for the collar facing and epualettes. I know that guys used to use material from WW2 marine dress uniforms, but I'm not a fan of destroying original uniforms. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

Hainsworth superfine is what you might want. The original trim is all plain-woven, finely finished broadcloth.

Does Hainsworth make the correct shade of blue? I have some of their dark blue, but have not seen the proper infantry blue.

      Thanks,

You may try their 'Bright Blue' and compare it to the originals. This is the color I use on my Houston Depot Jackets. Click here for photo

All ladies in Houston and surrounding counties who have cloth on hand, which they can spare, are requested to donate it to the ladies of Crockett for the purpose of making petticoats for the Minute Men of this county, who have "backed out" of the service. We think the petticoat more suitable for them in these times.

The Woolrich 5100264 Dark Royal is a close match.
