  • Rain headgear for federal soldiers

    I wish to construct a vucanized rubber cover for a type I federal forage cap and i have two questions
    Would there be a rain cover around at the mid 1863 date and if so does anyone have any pattens

      The oft-reprinted photo of 6th Corps men at Fredericksburg in May 1863 shows quite a few rain covers. I can't find the link for it now, but it's in practically every illustrated Civil War book.
