    Hi--I am wanting to make a artillery shell display for living history and was wondering about how a powder bag that attaches to a shell was constructed?--material,demionsions,etc. where to find information--Thanks

    as for as I'm concerned the powder charge was held on by a leather or canvas strap, thought this is quite BASIC information. I have a contact that might be able to help you :

      I assume you are referring to a smoothbore round?

      They are attatched to the sabot and wonderful instructions can be found in Gibbon's "The Artillerist's Manual" throughout Chapter XI.
