Kepi visor

Comrades,

I have been trying to research on when pasteboard visors started to appear on Confederate kepis, but without success on these forums and the internet. Is there any books or articles regarding Confederate kepis?

I am partically interested in when pasteboard visors were introduced and if a leather visor would be appropriate for a mid to late war kepi. Thanks in advance for the help.
