  • LIVE Firing with Muskets?

Next month I'm going to SC for a week to visit my parents and I may be getting together with a friend while I'm there to do some live firing (he asked if I could bring my muskets (I have a '61 and a '42 Springfield) and he has an M-1 Girand that he said I'd get some trigger time on). My question, after my ramble, what is the best way to go about doing live firing? By that I mean, would I be better off rolling some cartridges or can I just pour the powder down the barrel with a measure? I have some lead minnie balls for the .58 but nothing for the .69cal Springfield?

On a side note, I have a powder horn and shot pouch that I got as a birthday gift from a friend many years ago and I have been looking for a way to use that with my percussion cap muskets.

Hopefully I haven't confused anyone this early in the AM:).

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Sincerely,
