    Mr. Hoffman,

You may be making more of this than needed. Find most any good cigar/pipe shop in a town near you and go in. They will undoubtedly have canister after canister of different blends of good tobacco for pipe smoking. You can even talk to them about blends that would have historically been prevalent in the 19th century and many can help with this. For freshness sake, I would recommend this rather than ordering from some unknown source and running the risk of not liking the blend.

Also, as Silas points out, always sign your posts!

Check out Old Virgina Tobacco Company. I've had their "Gettysburg" blend... was pretty good. Also if you have a tobacco shop (a good one) in you area try talking to them, I've found my local tobacco shop has very knowledgeable staff that have been a big help and pointed me to numerous blends that were common in the 19th century.

You might check out Turkeyfoot Trading Co. (link below)

They do French & Indian stuff, but they also have a lot we can use, period correct.
The twists of tobacco can be smoked or chewed. The rope and twine is very good.
They also have great dried haversack edibles, such as parched corn (at a decent price,)
a selection of dried fruits, small cone sugar, etc. Worth the look.
