You forgot to mention your sealed tin cans which scream out for a steady application of the bayonet. Saw one of them a couple weeks ago. Liked it.Silas Tackitt,

James, is your reproduction P54 English mess tin copied from an original?

Re: Olson's Tinware now an AC vendor
When I was reading through the website there are these two statements posted.
“Each item marked authentic has been accurately copied from an original specimen or a documented pattern.”
“Nicky Hughes asked me if I could make a piece of tinware for him. He let me inspect the original and provided me with a
set of plan drawings. It was the 1854 English mess kit.”

Re: Olson's Tinware now an AC vendor
I have purchased 3 1854 pattern mess tins from Jim. 1 for myself and two for friends.
Each one matches dimensions that I have in various publications and Jim's warranty that are copied from originals. His bail ears are cast to match originals.
The dimensions and shape are consistent with his references and Steele's mess tin in the UK.
They are as accurate a reproduction as those produced by the Park House Museum in Canada of the 1851 pattern based on originals.
I prefer Jim's weight of metal.

Jim, got the tins i ordered from you. The .69 RB and the .69 EB they fit like a glove. THe 1841 sample tin also fit like a glove. Dimensions follow the 1850 Ord. manual perfectly. The solder job is also top shelf. Thanks a bunch.

Re: Olson's Tinware now an AC vendor
Dear Mr. Otis,
Other than a tin for essence of coffee, can you be more specific? At this time the only "food" tin I have specifications for is the canned goods tin that I sell as a kit for making into a coffee boiler and also a tea canister. In respect to any other food tin, I would be willing to consider making a reproduction of an original that you might have. I do have some tins for brass cased ammunition that are period correct. They are simple boxes for .44 cal cartridges and are butt soldered at the corners. The approximate dimensions are 2" w by 3.5" l x 1.5" h and also 2" high. They are $8.00 plus minimum shipping.
Cordially,
James C. CurrensJames Currens
