  • Union Frock Coat?

    Good Morning,

First, let me say that I started out in reenacting in '99 as a Union soldier and now I do both sides :)....

Having said that, I was wondering, who still makes a good quality Infantry Frock Coat? I noticed both CJ Daley and S&S (both listed as Vendors on Sykes Regulars) don't sell them anymore?....Also, since I have a sack coat now, if I were to get a high quality frock coat, how often would I use it? I ask this b/c I see in a lot of the event guidlines posted on here that primary coats call for a Sack Coat/Fatigue Blouse and Frock Coats are secondary.

Thanks in advance and I apologize for the confusion.

    Sincerely,
    Robert F. Wallace

Pretty much the only option is the guy in New Jersey if your getting it new. Other than that they show up here for sale used one and a while and they go fast.

Edit to say that I asked this very question back in January so just use the search button and you'll get all the answers.

        Kenny,
I apologize...I ALWAYS forget that option first :). My first tendancy is just to post and hope for the best....

No problem. You'll get all the most recent answers instantly rather than having to wait even though it's all just a bunch of random names that you won't know how to get a hold of them.

            Mike,

Do you (or anyone else) have a current email address/contact information for Dick Watters? I googled him (used "Dick Watters Frock Coats") and got an email address but it bounced back.

            Thanks,

Does anyone know if County Cloth still offers Fed frocks as a finished garment?

I saw one of Joe Hill's frocks at Shiloh last year and thought he made a fine coat. Don't know his contact info or who carries his products, though.

There are not a lot of folks making these right now.

I'm not seeing that County Cloth is offering anything as a finished garment at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get Ray Hock to do one for you through S&S. He makes a decent one. I might call them about it.

                    Mike,

This is the one I got after I googled his info:

                    genlstuff2@lazerlink.com

I'll try yours and see what I get back.

                    Thanks :).

Robert, mine doesn't have the "2" in it. I also have another one if that one doesn't work.

                          Re: Union Frock Coat?

Dick Watters still makes Union Infantry Frock Coats. This was his reply to me in an email I sent him yesterday:

"Fitted are $460 and standard are $425 plus suhipping. Let me know if you want photos."

                          Thanks for the help!
