Department Of Alabama Jackets issued/worn during the Atlanta Campaign
Re: Department Of Alabama Jackets issued/worn during the Atlanta Campaign
Will, Thanks for the Extended layout of the production numbers of the Depots you listed up top. It obvious these Depots were in fact supplying the army's needs in that part of the Confederacy and making every effort possible to continue production and making the necessary move to avoid falling into Federal a.k.a. Yank hands. Please post photos of the shoes if and when you get the opportunity to view them.
Bob, Thank you for posting the pic of the Johnny, I have to say he "models" the jacket well. His hat has the look of the Southwestern "Cowboy Crease" in the center.

Regretfully, I do not have an ID. I seem to remember that he was a Washington Artilleryman, but am not certain. Here's a fellow that definitely is by the name of John Scott. He also wears a DOA shell.
As [one of our cavalry] passed by, the general halted him and inquired "what part of the army he belonged to." "I don't belong to the army, I belong to the cavalry." "That's a fact," says [the general], "you can pass on." Silas Grisamore, 18th Louisiana
