I realize that the contractor-made shirts were variants issued in place of the standard Federal issue shirt. However, I'd be interested to know if these were just "off the shelf" mass-produced civilian work shirts, or whether they represented a unique military style. In other words, would a contract shirt be acceptable for civilian use, or is it strictly an issue item?

Re: Question About Federal Contract Variant Shirts
IMO they were a strictly military item, but I would be intersted to see if anybody else thinks otherwise. Sadly issue shirts, although they were one of the most common items issued by the goverment, there are very few surviving originals.Robert Johnson
