Handle for careen half skillet

Wondering what you use for a handle on the canteen half? Thanks for the info.

A stick.

Cut a small groove in one end with a pocket knife to hold the skillet. Make sure it is sturdy enough to hold the skillet with food in it so it doesn't break and you end up with your food in the fire.

Do you bend a portion of the canteen half so the stock will go straight out the side or leave the lip at the original angle and have the stick pointing at a 45• angle?

I have a piece of bailing wire at where the opening would be, and find that sticking the socket of my bayonet into it a certain way makes a good perpendicular handle that has not failed me yet.

Use the cut out for the spout and the half will rest a little more flat. I should have mentioned that in my first post; you pointed out that the method I suggested would indeed look wierd if the curved sides are used.
