  • AC Correct CS uniform

    Hey folks,
fledgling AC'er, stuck in a mainstream unit for now. Not many AC units here in Cali. But I'm looking for good advice on a GOOD uniform. I've heard of Ben Tart, and a couple of others. Anyone share some good links? All I keep coming up with are the mainstream sutlers. I did find Ben Tart's, but I'd like to compare with some others. My impression is 1st Texas Infantry Regiment. Good guys, but...
    Thanks much

    Hello, sir!

    Please Note:

There are forum rules we follow and one is signing your real name to every post. Also, this question doesn't belong here, but in Camp of Instruction, so I will move it there for you. Also, try the Approved Vendors thread on here where you can see some great quality vendor wares. No worries. Hope you get some responses.

    Thanks!

        Re: AC Correct CS uniform

        Al,

Welcome to the Authentic Campaigner website. Since you are new to the forum, here are some things I suggest to help get you started:

The AC has approved vendors in which are well worth a look. You can find the Approved Vendors List by clicking on Links at the top of the page. For quick access, here is the link URL for you:

Additionally, if you click on Forum at the top of the page, it will take you to a page which shows all the main forums here on the AC. At the bottom of the forums page is the Market Place forum. Quality used gear for sale is posted by members in the Buy, Sell, Trade forum. Approved Vendors post announcements on the Approved Vendors forum. Under the Approved Vendors Announcements forum is a sub-forum called Other Vendor Discussion.

Although not all inclusive since there are other quality makers out there, those things I listed above should get you started in finding better quality reproductions.

If you are on Facebook look for the Battalion of the Common Soldier. They are California based campaigners that portray both sides of the conflict.

While I will admit that the BCS is an awesome group, and I heartily recommend falling in with them if you're in the neighborhood, I noticed on your profile that you are with the RACW. You may also want to connect with THEM up north of you.

Hey Al! Like the others have said, the BCS is a good group of us who still like to get out there and do things right. Believe it or not, there is a campaigner following out here in CA. PM me anytime if you are interested. Also, are you part of the old 1st TX from out here? As far as I knew, they had all but dissolved and people went to other units.

              Respectfully,

                Al:

As Chris and Andrew said look up our group the BCS on FB, also Eric Paape's suggestion was a good one too for the fellows up North. You will find a wealth of knowledge and resources on the AC, if you want some 1st Texas specific info we can also get you in touch with members of the old Marion Rifles (Co.A 1st Texas) who are still active in Southern California and are a key core component of the Campaigner/Authentic group out here. If there is anything we can do to help you with your quest for bettern uniforms/equipment etc. please reach out to us and we would be happy to help you in any way possible.

Thank all for the great information!!! I'll attempt answer some the questions. I'll check the BCS FB page for sure.
I believe most of the original group of Co G 1st Texas RACW have all scattered to the wind. Couple of guys, like my freind who's the CO and got me into CW reenacting have been with the unit since 98. I've gotten the general impression it's always been mainstream. We're not as bad as some the units.
Some of the old timers have gone artillery. The only AC guys in RACW that I'm aware of is the 3rd AR, good group of guys.
My unit is a good group also, just like to see a little more AC.
Thanks all for the kind words.
