  • Top Stitching a civilian sack coat?

I just finished piecing my civilian sack coat kit together, button holes, and top stitched around the edges of the coat. My question is do I need to stitch around every seam or is the edge all that needs to be done?

My apologies if this in the wrong place

    Matthew,

The topstitching is around the edges of the coat.

From your question, it appears that you are asking if you have to topstitch along the seams created by the joined body pieces and joined sleeves. If I am interpreting your question correctly, topstitching is rarely exhibited along those seams that join the body and sleeves together. I have been thinking last night and I don't recall having ever seen an original example of a civilian sack which exhibited that in the numerous examples of original surviving specimens I have seen/examined throughout the years.

I hope I interpreted your question correctly and the initial information I provided is helpful.
