While tobacco is obviously a rather large part of the backstory and daily life of this time period, what I don't see available are any scholarly reviews of the types of pipe more commonly used by either side during the war. I freely admit I could be looking in the wrong places, which is what brings me here!
Does anyone know of any good studies on smoking paraphernalia in North America during the 1860s? If I'm going to enjoy a pipe at an event, I would rather do so un-farbily!
Thanks, all.
