  • Blankets for Wauhatchie

Who is the current "Go To" vendor for blankets? I need to get a couple for my participation in the Wauhatchie event.

    Re: Blankets for Wauhatchie

US blankets are hard to find now, the last good run that I know of was S&S Sutlers last summer, and those were gone in a flash. Every now and then a good used blanket pops up on Ebay or Facebook.

They also come up here for sale used. NJS has said on FB that he will have a run again of blankets but didn't say when. Assuming you are looking for US issue blanket. For Civilian types check out South Union Mills.

I have an original coverlet that I'm going to use at Wauhatchie, but like others have said, a good used blanket becomes available every now and again. But you have to act fast, as they usually sell quickly.

I got mine slightly used from a guy who had two of them....they were FHW I believe (US). I posted on here and the Civil War Reenactors Trade Forum on Facebook (that's where I got lucky and snatched it up quick).

          Good luck!

Hi, Mr Firestine - I have some used Federal blankets I can turn loose. I have an FHW gray with black end stripes and 'US' stitched on it, and a couple of unknown manufacture emergency tan and brown blankets, with and without the stitching. I can text pictures if you'd like to send me a number, and tell me what you're looking for.

Thank you for your consideration, at the moment I am taken care of.

Button Barron is passable at the moment. Their Blanket also comes with yarn and a "How-To" with about 7 different patterns for oneself to stitch in the "U.S."
