One of my relatives, William Dalton,fought with Company G, 54th VA, Trigg’s Brigade, Preston’s Division, Buckner’s Corps, Army of Tennessee at Chickamauga. He was captured at some point during the battle.
William died in 1864 at Rock Island IL, where he had been held as a prisoner of war. Can anyone here point me in the right direction as I how this unit would have been equipped? I know Atlanta and Columbus jackets were the most prevalent is the AoT at the time, but I hav also read that some more poorly equipped units received NC jackets. I can’t find any images attributed to this unit. Can anyone point me in the right direction researcher wise?
