Friends,
I have been portraying the 2nd Connecticut Heavy Artillery now for about 5 years. The guys who started this unit are really cut throat about looking like they would of looked as they came out of the forts, but when i try to tell them different i am met with harsh words. Quite a few members in my mess feel that after the overland campaign, especially after they were so heavily engaged at cold harbor, that they would be more rugged looking. In quite a few letters written by Lewis Bissel, a private in the 2nd, he mentions just wearing his fatigue coat, but says nothing else about a change in uniform such as hats. Is there really ne way of finding out if they lost the forage caps and donned the slouch?
Really would apprecitate some help.
