    Re: Campaigner's Manifesto

I have translated the Campaigner's Manifesto from English into German and would like to know if anybody knows the author, Mr. Hughes, and if he would give his consent for a publication of the German translation on the AC.

Btw.: The link does not work anymore.

      Try this link:

I would even add one more:

#21 I will make it a priority to support the c/p/h community by making it my first priority to support c/p/h events that uphold the standards of this Manifesto. Adjuncts should be supported but only after I have met my commitments to supporting the c/p/h community.

        Re: Campaigner's Manifesto

Thank you for putting the link for the Campaigner's Manifesto. I thought it may have become lost with hometown.

The #21 is a good add, to bad it has become necessary.

Simple and well-put, what a beautifully written manifesto.

                      Hi Jim,

Nice add on and one that Charles and I chatted about several years ago on this forum on a returning to the mainstream thread.

By the way, I still need to send in my money for the Shiloh DVD from 2007. Too darn busy but will get a check your way.

If no one has given you this info, I will contact Mr. Hughes and see if he minds a German translation being posted anywhere. I suspect it will be fine with him.

I don't think Nicky's work needs any additions. I might could see modifying No. 18 by replacing "mainstream" with "all other". That would do wonders I believe.

"18. I see "mainstream" reenactors as potential converts to living history at higher levels of historical accuracy, and I avoid conflict with them. I conduct my relations with them in a manner consistent with the behavior expected from mid-19th century gentlemen. However, I do maintain my own high standards of excellence for portraying Civil War soldier life."

Nicky Hughes told me last night that it's perfectly OK with him if you translate his Campaigner's Manifesto into German, and post it for German readers.
