Gentlemen,
Does anybody know whether the ANV always got their imported English Enfield bayonets with scabbards?
I remember reading from somewhere that sometimes the scabbards were made locally. Is this a fact? Does anybody know what these locally made bayonets were like? More simple perhaps?
I’m asking this because,
I have an original sword-bayonet for two-band Enfield. Right now I’m in the process of sewing the scabbard.
I need to know whether the only period-correct choice is an exact copy of the original British scabbard. If not, I could make a more simple scabbard with minimum steel furnishing and no steel tip.
Yours,
Eric Seppälä
