  • US / CS Stamped messplates

    Greetings,

Are reproduction Civil War issued tin messplates that are stamped with a US or CS, authentic? Or is this a reenactorism?

If they are authentic, how frequent were they seen compared to unstamped plates?

    Thanks!

100% reenactorism. Look at documented examples, not out-of-date collectors' books. Here are two from the Oshkosh Public Museum.

Thanks Scott!! I couldn't find any actual examples of stamped originals, so I kind of figured that. But thought I'd ask to be sure.

      I like that canteen-half plate.
