Former Vicksburg mayor Robert M. Walker is among the speakers who will address a symposium on African-American Civil War soldiers, set for 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at the William F. Winter Archives and History Building in Jackson.
“Black, Blue, and Gray: African American Soldiers' Experience in the Civil War,” will feature Walker; David H. Slay, a doctoral candidate at Texas Christian University; and Minor Ferris Buchanan, author of Holt Collier: His Life, His Roosevelt Hunts, and the Origin of the Teddy Bear.
