    That's a pretty good idea for the humidity Mr. Hawkins.
    I belive they sale these at gun store to put inside gunsafes/cabinets.

      You can get the same stuff (silica gel) at craft stores (for drying flowers, usually). I comes in plastic jars, and can be repackaged into open containers. It will then be easier to dump old silica out onto a cookie sheet for drying in the oven. Then back it goes, ready for more drying service.

        Guys,

        If you will just put the stuff in a GI ammo can that has a good seal on it you can forget any problems you will have. Storing blackpowder is not rocket science. I have been using BP I bought ten years ago for match shooting in 45-70's this year with no problem what so ever.

        As far as the powder is concerned if all you are doing is blowing it out the end of your musket for blanks you really have no concerns if stored this way.

        If the building catches fire, well, just tell the fire department to stand back and watch when they get there.

        Unless the regulations have changed recently an unlicensed individual can store up to 50 LBS without running into any Federal storage restrictions. Some local and state regulations may apply.
